Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on ssmprofessionals.co.uk, why we use them, and how you can accept, reject or change your preferences at any time.
Last updated: 8 September 2026 · Version 1.0
This Cookie Policy explains how SSM Professionals Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on ssmprofessionals.co.uk. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally. We use very few technologies, we do not use advertising cookies, and we never sell information about your visit.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer, tablet or phone when you visit it. They allow the site to recognise your device and remember information such as your preferences or the pages you have viewed.
Alongside cookies we may use similar technologies, including local storage (data stored in your browser rather than in a cookie), session storage (data held only while a tab is open) and pixels (small invisible images used to record that content has been loaded). In this policy we refer to all of them as “cookies”.
2. How we use cookies
- To make the site work — for example, to load pages correctly and keep the site secure.
- To remember your cookie choice, so we do not ask you again on every visit.
- To deliver the messages you send us through the contact form.
- To load fonts and other design resources that form part of the site’s appearance.
- With your consent, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
We do not use advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not share information about your browsing with advertisers.
3. Types of cookies
| Category | Purpose | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the site to function, to keep it secure and to remember your cookie preferences. | Not required — always active |
| Preferences | Remember choices you make, such as your consent selection or display settings. | Required |
| Analytics / performance | Collect aggregated information about visits and how pages are used, so we can improve the site. | Required |
| Marketing / advertising | Used to build advertising profiles. We do not use these. | Never used |
4. Cookies we use
This site is deliberately lightweight. At present it sets no advertising cookies and no analytics cookies. The technologies in use are:
| Name / provider | Type | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| ssm-cookie-consent First party (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Stores whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies, so the banner is not shown again. | Until you clear your browser data |
| Google Fonts fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com (Google) | Third-party request | Delivers the fonts used across the site. Google receives your IP address and browser information when your device requests the font files. | Google Fonts does not set cookies as standard; your browser may cache the font files |
| Formspree formspree.io | Third-party, functional | Delivers the messages you submit through our contact form to our inbox. | Session, or as long as needed to route the enquiry |
We do not currently use analytics tools such as Google Analytics. If we introduce any in the future, we will update this page before they are activated and ask for your consent first.
5. Third-party content
- Fonts — as described above, fonts are requested from Google’s servers.
- Social media links — our pages link to our profiles on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. These are plain links: we do not embed social widgets or buttons, so no cookies are set by those platforms simply by visiting our site. Once you follow a link, that platform’s own cookies and privacy notice apply.
- WhatsApp — the phone number links to wa.me. Following it takes you to WhatsApp, which has its own privacy notice.
We are not responsible for the cookies set by third-party websites we link to, and we recommend you review their cookie notices.
6. Managing your preferences
You have several ways to control cookies:
- Our cookie banner — choose Accept all cookies or Reject non-essential the first time you visit.
- Cookie Settings — the link in the footer of every page reopens the banner so you can change your choice at any time.
- Your browser — you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The option is usually found under Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data (Chrome and Edge), Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data (Firefox), or Settings → Privacy (Safari). Useful guidance is published at aboutcookies.org and ico.org.uk.
Please note that blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may stop parts of this site from working properly. Clearing your browser data removes the record of your choice, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
7. Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by using the Cookie Settings link in the footer and selecting Reject non-essential. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew it, and it will not remove cookies that have already been stored — to do that, clear them in your browser settings.
8. Updates to this policy
We review this Cookie Policy regularly and will update it if the technologies we use change. The version published on this page is the current one, and the “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we add new categories of cookies, we will ask for your consent before they are used.
